Our story starts January 28th 2023.  I was so over the dating scene in Austin and was ready to call it quits when I met Aderinsola. Neither one of us knew the other was Nigerian. We were pleasantly surprised and excited. We were two Africans who happened to love K-dramas, anime, and non-traditional African things. 

I remember cooking Egusi soup and needing palm oil but it was late at night and stores were closed. Aderinsola happened to have some oil and offered to bring it to me. I did not think he would drive down but he did. I was grateful and I could tell that he was not like anyone I had ever dated.

We wanted to be intentional and date with a purpose. We thought, why not try dating God’s way since our way never worked. Funny enough at that time  I was binge-watching the hit series "Love is Blind". I particularly enjoyed the idea of learning a lot about someone in a short period of time if you ask the right questions. So we decided to have our own version of love is blind. We talked for hours from sunup to sundown just asking each other simple and difficult questions. 

I remember asking Freda some difficult questions and waiting for her to answer first just to see how she would respond. I remember Asking Aderinsola questions about his values and future goals. We were blown away by how we connected on multiple levels. We had similar values, beliefs, and goals. My heart kept on whispering to me saying “he has a good heart”. 

If you ask Aderinsola he might say I put him through the wringer with 21 thousand questions, but it was well worth it in the end because “The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD” Proverbs 18:22

As time passed on, we started seeing how our words and actions aligned. We had similar dating experiences where we felt that no one had ever prioritized us or gave us the best of anything before considering themselves. Our bond got stronger each and every day. We knew there was something different about the other person.

We prayed to God to confirm our relationship and He did. Even when I received my confirmation about Aderinsola, I asked God for another one just to make sure and He confirmed it again. 

Looking back, God was writing our story and pouring into the both of us. For years we prayed for a God-loving partner but what we received was that and so much more.

We are so grateful to The LORD, the divine matchmaker. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." -James 1:17.
